…Orders Investigations Into Abandoned Schools’ Projects In Ido, Ibarapaland Others
The Oyo State House of Assembly has called for thorough investigation into circumstances surrounding the abandonment of some schools projects in Ido, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa East Local Government areas of the State.
The call was made Tuesday following a petition sent to the Legislature by the Parents Teachers’ Association, PTA of Igboora High School, Igboora.
The House also called for investigations into such abandoned projects in other Secondary Schools across Oyo State.
According to the petition from the PTA, Igboora High School, the Contractor handling the repair of a block of five Classrooms in the School – Kafunmukache International Limited has absconded.
The project which was said to have been awarded in December 4, 2017 by the Oyo State Ministry of Education was for the rehabilitation of a Secondary School building and four compartment toilets in each of the selected Schools in Ido, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa East Local Governments.
The petition jointly signed by the PTA Chairman, Mr. Rufai Gbolagade and one Mr. Akinyemi Akinlabi noted that the same fate has befallen the remaining five projects spread across the three Local Governments in Ibarapaland.
The PTA added that the project which had been abandoned since January, 2019 has caused severe hardship for the staff and students of the School as they are forced to stay in the uncompleted classroom building for teaching and learning.
To this end, the House has directed its statutory committee on Public Petitions to commence investigations into all these abandoned projects across the State and report back in two weeks.
