Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has approved the sum of N312 million for the installation of fifty eight motorized boreholes across the entire 33 local governments in the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Idowu Oyeleke, who disclosed this on Wednesday said that the move will reduce deficit in water supply across the state.
Oyeleke stated that the project was initially awarded by the last administration towards the twilight of its tenure.
The project,he revealed was subsequently revoked by the present administration as a result of inadequacies which has to do with transparency, and accountability in the award of the contract.
The commissioner noted that the state executive council headed by the executive governor, Seyi Makinde, approved the termination and rewarding of the contract to another contractor.
He added that the project which cuts across the entire state is expected to be completed within six months in order to provide clean drinkable water to the citizenry.
