Members of the aggrieved faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Unity Forum, have headed to court over the inauguration of Chief Akin Oke as the State’s chairman.
The group in a statement released by its secretary, Wasiu Olatunbosun, rejected the chairmanship of Chief Akin Oke.
“We wish to state our rejection of the swearing-in of Chief Oke. In the wee hours of yesterday (Sunday), the men of Governor Abiola Ajimobi had gone to town claiming that a top official in the Presidency from the South West had instructed the national leadership of the party to change its report on the congresses in Oyo State and swear in Chief Oke as the Chairman.”
“We assure our teeming members and supporters that this act of injustice and ungodliness by men that were supposedly men of God will not stand. We have approached the courts to adjudicate on the matter. We restate our contention that the supporters of Governor Ajimobi did not pay for nor collected nomination forms for the ward congress of the party. Everything built on the ward congress that never took place cannot stand.”
The group stated this its members will remaining in APC and maintain peace.
