The All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo State has sworn in new party executives for local governments and wards in the state.
The ceremony held today Tuesday, 19th of June at the state secretariat of the party, in Ibadan, saw executives in 351 wards and 33 local government areas in the state swear to an oath of allegiance and oath of office.
The new executives who would run the affairs of the party at their various wards and local government areas were inaugurated at the party Secretariat in Ibadan amidst jubilation from party supporters loyal to the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Speaking before the inauguration, the Deputy Chairman of the party in the State APC, Mr. Lekan Adeyemo urged the new executives to continue the process of reconciliation of all aggrieved members in line with the spirit of accommodation and unity of purpose.
According to him, the party executive members at the state level had begun reconciliatory moves since sworn in, urging the local government and ward executive council members to also join the reconciliatory train.
“Immediately we were sworn in at the state level, we swung into the action of reconciling with our people who were aggrieved in one way or the other, key either they are aggrieved with the governor or with the party. The reconciliatory effort has begun.
“So, after your swearing in, we expect that in your various local government and wards, you should start this reconciliatory effort. You cannot afford to lose anybody,” Adeyemo said.
Those administered oaths by a legal practitioner, Mr Segun Abayomi, are those executives who emerged from ward congresses held at the meeting places of the party at the ward level and local government congresses held within the headquarters of the 33 local government areas in the state.
In their separate remarks, some of the new Council Chairmen of the party promised to work in line with the party regulations to make the APC formidable in the state.
Recall that insideoyo.com earlier reported that the chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Cheif Akin Oke inaugurated members of the states executive of the party on Thursday June 7 at the party secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
And that the National chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun gave directive to Chief Akin Oke and some states chairman not to inaugurate other executive members of the party in their states.
