In recent time, there had been speculations that forms for National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly elections forms were being hoarded, but this allegation was largely dismissed by both the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo state spoke with New Telegraph.
The Publicity Secretary of APC) Dr. Azeez Olatunde said: “Such information is baseless. Our party needs money and this is the only veritable money-making venture. Better than begging; this is the opportunity for us. Since everybody wants to participate in an election, why discourage them.
“Why would we want to hoard forms? People should not put their failure on any sentiment. If eight persons collect forms for only one position, is it not only one person that is going to emerge at the end of the day? Is it not a good development for our party to raise money? It is a lie that any party is hoarding forms,” he said.
An aspirant to the Oyo State House of Assembly on the platform of APC, Afees Oladejo, said: “In the Ibadan North West state constituency, we are four aspiring. All of us have obtained forms. Nobody obstructs anybody from obtaining forms.”
In the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Secretary, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, also dismissed the information that forms were being hoarded.
According to him, “We have even passed that stage. We have screened and already cleared our aspirants. The issue of hoarding forms did not arise at all,” he said.
Some aspirants spoken to also confirmed the development, saying that they were given free hand to obtain the forms.
