LG Election: We Will Not Participate – Oyo APC

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State has confirmed the expulsion of three “former” individual members in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas on account of alleged political infidelity, gross misconduct and sabotage “against the APC which they still claim membership of after defecting to other parties to either accept appointment or hijack tickets to contest the 2023 election as candidates.

The trio of Ademola Ojo, Segun Okanlawon and Saheed Oladele are said to have ceased to be members of the APC after the Executive Committee members of their respective Ward chapters have found them culpable in all the allegations of undemocratic and immoral activities leveled against them. Ojo is the current Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. Seyi Makinde of the PDP following his celebrated appointment on June 24, 2022 and he has since declared for the PDP.

In a statement issued at the weekend and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC stated that Ademola Ojo, Segun Okanlawon and Saheed Oladele have been established to have forfeited their membership of the APC by getting into cahoots with other political parties, hobnobbing with their principals and accepting appointments and tickets for elective offices from them.

“They have all being active on other political platforms, while still claiming the privileges of bona fide APC members. It is an undeniable fact that Segun Okanlawon and Saheed Oladele are now the candidates of Accord and Labour party respectively for the Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the forthcoming general election as they seek to slug it out with the candidate of our great Party, Hon. Saubana Ajibola Muraina,

“We found it extremely funny that the three unscrupulous characters could be parading themselves as members of two different registered political parties at the same time even as they have lost every right and privilege available to Progressives in APC. It is, therefore, imperative for us to inform the whole world that the three of them are no longer members of our great party (APC ) since they have all moved on to other political platforms where they are enjoying benefits as they also work against our party and its candidates.

“Meanwhile, the leadership of the APC in the state is using this opportunity to applaud all chieftains, elders and members as well as supporters of our great Party in Ibarapa Zone for the success of the Zonal Rally held at Igbo-Ora last Thursday. The open show of love and solidarity demonstrated by the mammoth crowd which graced the campaign exercise was an eloquent testimony to the fact that electorate in Ibarapaland are ready to cast The votes for all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming poll.” The statement concluded.
