Oyo State Executives of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has passed vote of no confidence on the south west chairman of the party Mr. Oyeniyi Olatunji for violating the constitution of the party.
The state Exco and working committee of the party also suspended Oyo South Senatorial, Chairman Alhaji Shina Ajala for parading himself as the acting chairman of the party.
Speaking with journalists over the development, the state acting chairman of the party, Mr. Raheem Sulaimon Adeola who is from Ibarapa North Local Government area of the state said, “I’m in support of the decision of our State Working Committee on suspension of Oyo South Senatorial Chairman and the vote of no confidence passed on the South West Chairman of our party.
“Oyo south senatorial chairman has been suspended by the state working committee of our party because he was parading himself around as the state acting chairman of the party.This is someone that is not in the executive hierachy of the state, if the chairman is suspended just like the way we have now, his vice should automatically emerged as the acting chairman of the state pending the suspension period.
“Oyo South Senatorial chairman upon receiving the news of the suspension of the chairman started parading himself as the acting state chairman without following the due process, this is against the rules and regulations of the constitutions of our party and it’s even against the decision of the national working committee of our party because the suspension letter stated that the suspended chairman should hand over the affairs of the party to the next in hierachy to him which is the vice chairman pending the resolution of the national working committee on the issue.
“The actions of those leaders if not properly addressed will affect our party, and it might cause a disaster for us in the coming general elections and that is why members of the executive as well as the state working committee members resolved the latest development to allow peace to reign in our party, this will also allow us to go back to the round table to address this issue and others than can affect the development of our party in this state.
“For now I’m the state acting chairman of the party because I’m the next person in hierachy to the suspended chairman and this is in line with the directive of the national working committee of our party as stated in the suspension letter addressed to Apostle Dare Ojo. The post cannot be vacant, someone must step in and be acting as the chairman handling the affairs of the party pending the resolutions of the issue. Honestly, I don’t think this issue should cause any problems because this has clearly stated in our constitution.” Raheem said.
Also in their contributions, the state youth leader and the state secretary of the party also confirmed the suspension and votes of no confidence passed.
The state youth leader, Hon. Ogundeji Taiwo Ademola, said “The suspended letter came to us a rude shock and we believed that the national leaders of the party need to call a round table meeting in order to ratify the issue on ground but to our amazement someone just single-handedly picked someone to be the acting chairman instead of calling the executive and the working committee to a round table meeting.This is wrong, nobody cannot just picked someone to continue with the affairs of the party and shun the party constitutions.
“Their actions is not in line with the laws and regulations of our constitution and that is why we’ve come together as members of the state working committee and the state executives to critically look and talk about the issue and at the end of our discussions we have passed vote of no confidence on Mr. Oyeniyi Olatunji the south west chairman of the party while Oyo South Senatorial chairman Alhaji Shina Ajala who has been parading himself as the acting chairman of the party without consulting the state working committee and state executives or follow due process as lay down by the constitution of our party has been suspected too.” He said.
The state party Secretary, Mr. Adeniyi Victor Oluwatayo said “we have passed vote of no confidence on the south west chairman of our party and we have suspended the Oyo state senatorial chairman of the party for parading himself as the acting state chairman for four months.
“We have the state executive council members here, the state auditor, treasurer, youth leader, welfare officer are all here, our woman leader who is not here due to one important reason but she is also in support of our decision, this is our resolution after the meeting of the state executive and the state working committee that formulate policies for day to day activities of our party.” Victor said.
