The African Democratic Party (ADC) in Oyo State on Sunday asked Governor Abiola Ajimobi to “stop fooling the people of Iseyin in particular, and the good people of Oke-Ogun in general”
ADC stated this in a statement issued and signed by the Director Media, Publicly and Public Affairs, Handshake Campaign Organisation (HANCO), official handlers of the Senator Olufemi Lanlehin governorship bid, Comrade Lanre Ogundipe made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
According to ADC, there is the need to ” ask why Governor Ajimobi again promised the Iseyin people a tertiary institution, after almost eight years in power?
” We of the Handshake Campaign Organisation (HANCO), official handlers of the Senator Olufemi Lanlehin governorship bid hereby appeals to the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi to stop fooling the people of Iseyin in particular, and the good people of Oke-Ogun in general, over spurious campaign promises to the people, majority of which have gone unfulfilled. We like to ask why Governor Ajimobi again promised the Iseyin people a tertiary institution, after almost eight years in power?” it said.
ADC added, “we wonder if all that ancient town where he got largest number of votes in the last election deserves are empty and vain promises?, saying, ” to add salt to injury, Governor Ajimobi vowed to birth the so-called “mystery institution” before leaving office, the question then is, “how can you promise the town a tertiary institution when no kobo was voted for it in this year’s budget?”
“We believe that this neglect of the entire Oke-Ogun region has no moral justification, for that region constitutes a very important segment of the state, whose development should be of paramount importance to any serious governor.”
The party stressed in the statement that “since Governor Ajimobi has failed woefully in this regard, we urge him to stop forthwith this needless insult, and advice him to desist from fooling the people with fanciful ideas, just to catch their votes.”
“Moniya-Iseyin road,
the main link to Oke-Ogun from Ibadan, for eight years, is worse than
a footpath.”
Governor Ajimobi’s promise to establish an
International Aso Ofi Market, and a farm plantation for the
unemployed along Iseyin-Okeho road has also gone unfulfilled. Again,
no single industry was set up in Oke Ogun in the eight years of the
Ajimobi government, while Saki township road has been badly
destroyed.”
The party also “wonders why Ikere Gorge Dam, situated in Ado-Awaye, which if wisely tapped, could solve irrigation, fishing, agriculture and water supply challenges besetting the state and South West, did not even attract the attention of the Governor, nor the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, so much so the VP couldn’t visit the place during his visit to Iseyin.”
“We therefore call on the good people of Iseyin and Oke Ogun in general, to reject Senator Ajimobi’s anointed governorship candidate, Bayo Adelabu, as well as their party, the APC, over their retinue of failed promises, and poverty perpetuation programmes, rather, they are encouraged to vote Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN) of the ADC, whose promises to them can be heavily banked on, for his antecedents speak volume of a man with integrity.”
