The Oyo State chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has declared its support for the upcoming #FearlessOctober 1 protest, a continuation of the #EndBadGovernance movement.
This was contained in a statement by the Chairman of the party, Kayode Babayomi, on Thursday, and made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, AAC sees the protest as a fundamental right of Nigerians to demand good governance from leaders.
“We in the African Action Congress (AAC), Oyo State chapter, have declared our unwavering support for the Nigerian people in the forthcoming #FearlessOctober protest.
“The protest is firstly, part of all Nigerians’ fundamental human rights, especially when seeking and demanding good governance from ‘leaders’ in public offices,” the statement read.
The party criticized the current Tinubu APC-led regime while urging Nigerians to take action.
“Nigerians have seen the direction of destruction that the present regime is on, leading the country to ruins, with the material condition of the people at an all-time decline.
“Nigerians should occupy the streets and demand good governance at all levels, so we can put an end to all the corruption and hunger ravaging the land.” It added.
The AAC called on its members, organizations, unions, and civil societies to join the protests across Oyo State’s 33 local governments.
“We encourage all organizations, unions, forums, and civil societies to stand up and be part of history against the current neo-liberalism in Nigeria.
“The consequences of these policies recognize no group or demography; we are all facing it, it’s time we rise up and demand what is right.
“Let us occupy the streets and shut down the streets to demand good governance; the struggle continues until we win. Solidarity Forever.”
