The Oyo State Chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has debunked the rumour that some members of the party defected to the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
In a press release signed by the party chairman, Kayode Babayomi on Saturday, the party stated that there is no element of truth in the story and that some of the people in the publicized picture had ceased to be members of the party since two years.
The statement read in part: “This is to dispel the rumour making rounds that some members of our great party, the African Action Congress (AAC) defected to the ruinous PDP in Oyo State.
“There’s no element of truth in the story and our esteemed members and the public should be aware that some of the people in the picture have ceased to be members of our party AAC for over 2 years.
“Mr Rotimi Ogunlana, submitted his resignation letter on 31st of January 2022, and proceeded in his political business career by joining the Labour Party.”
Babayomi stressed that it’s the plan of the PDP to “capture and scare” people, away from the party.
He added that the AAC is focused on issues affecting the people of the state.
He said: “We understand the political tactics of “capture and scare” that the PDP is trying to play, but we wish to break the sad news to them that it’s just too late.
“We in the AAC are focused on the issues affecting the people of Oyo and are the readier in 2023, than any other party to take our dear Oyo people out of the precipice that the Makinde-led (mal)administration has put them.”
