The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Abasi Oseni, has distanced himself from a report credited to a group, Igba Otun, which called on Senator Teslim Folarin and Chief Adebayo Adelabu to step aside from the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
Oseni, in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, on Wednesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan, described the publication as “false, malicious, and mischievous,” stressing that he holds both APC leaders in the highest esteem and has no hand in the propaganda.
“Hon. Oseni has no link with the so-called Igba Otun group and did not commission, endorse, or authorize such divisive publication. This is a clear act of mischief designed by desperate opportunists to cause disunity in our party,” Idow said.
He noted that both Senator Folarin and Chief Adelabu remain leaders whom his principal respects deeply. While Folarin is regarded as “an elder brother, political leader and mentor,” Adelabu is considered “a younger brother and close friend.”
He further clarified that the lawmaker has not declared any governorship ambition ahead of 2027, stressing that his attention remains on legislative duties, constituency development, and collective efforts to reposition the APC in Oyo State.
“The timing of this falsehood, coming shortly after the APC’s by-election setback, shows clearly that its sponsors are bent on destabilising the party rather than uniting it,” he added.
The media aide urged party members and the public to disregard the purported statement by Igba Otun, dismissing the group as “faceless mischief makers masquerading as agents of unity.”
