Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Thursday obtained expression of interest and governorship nomination form from the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza Abuja to signify his readiness to contest the 2019 gubernatorial election.
Seyi Makinde paid 6 million naira for the form, insideoyo.com gathered. N1million as Expression of Interest form and N5million for the Nomination form as stipulated by the party’s National Working Committee.
Engineer Makinde obtained the forms barely 24hours after PDP party leaders and members in the Oyo North Senatorial district at a meeting in Saki, in Oke Ogun area of Oyo state adopted him as their governorship candidate for the 2019 election.
At the PDP meeting held in Saki on Wednesday and Chaired by Oyo North Senatorial Chairman and Oyo State PDP vice Chairman, Honourable Waheed Oluwakemi Ayinde, Hon Debo Adejumobi from Atisbo local government moved a motion for the adoption of Engineer Makinde to be the flag bearer in the election.
Honourable Adejumobi stressed that he was moving the motion because majority of the people of Oyo state are clamouring for Engineer Seyi Makinde as the only candidate who can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state.
The motion was seconded by Engr. Sarafa Omirinde from Saki West local government and majority of the party members present at the meeting attended by the 11 local government Chairmen and representatives of the two local government’s executive council whose chairmen were absent erupted in jubilation.
All the PDP leaders at the meeting including Chief Jacob Adetoro, Senator Hosea Agboola, Rt Hon Mulika Adeola Akande, Alhaji Suleiman Adediran (Santana) while speaking applauded the adoption of Engineer Makinde, and vowed to work together with all within and outside the party to ensure that he wins the 2019 governorship election.
While at the PDP National Secretariat for the collection of the interest form and nomination forms, Engineer Makinde was accompanied by chieftains of the party from the state including, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Chief Sunday Ogunlade, Hon Remi Ayodele, former Speaker Oyo state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Moruf Atilola among others
