The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Tuesday asked the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to preach peace to their ‘over- enthusiastic members and followers’.
Makinde also charged his counterpart in the other parties, particularly Mr Bayo Adelabu of the APC to begin to harp on peace as he Makinde has been doing from the beginning.
Engineer Makinde in a release signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade from his campaign organisation pointed out that there is the need for a peaceful and violent free electioneering campaign
The PDP governorship candidate
said it is becoming rampant for APC members to vandalise posters and billboards belonging to the PDP, adding that the latest development over the weekend where “PDP party members were shot at is absolutely unacceptable and we are asking the police and INEC to intervene and impress it on them that intimidation will not win this election,” .
He then assured the people of the state that no one will be allowed to deploy violence or rigging to frustrate the popular wish of the people.
