In what appears to be a prelude to the outcome of the PDP gubernatorial primaries in Oyo state, all the party executives from the 33 local governments led by their chairmen converged at a meeting hosted by a leading governorship contender Engr Seyi Makinde to deliberate on the path to progress for the party.
A statement issued by the Seyi Makinde Organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade said that the meeting was unanimous in calling for a peaceful resolution to the crises caused by the planned harmonisation of the state executive.
In his remark on behalf of his colleagues, the chairman of the Chairmen’s Forum Prince Seun Moronfolu said that the meeting was unprecedented and the outcome will affect the fortunes of the party stressing that the masses will not forgive the party if it allows the current sufferings of the people to continue by not resolving the issue on time.
In his own remark, Chief Jacob Adetoro noted that the party will wax stronger after the resolution of the crises while Mogaji Nureni Akanbi said that the 600 exco members should be realistic and utilise positively, the powers bestowed on them by the party’s constitution.
PDP State Women Leader Alhaja Wulemot Ibitoye showed her appreciation for the timely interactive meeting and was sure that the party has kickstarted the process of regaining power through the process.
The convener of the meeting, Engr Seyi Makinde said he has tremendous respect and admiration for the party leader, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and observed that the meeting was not a declaration of his gubernatorial ambition but an interactive session to rub minds with the executive hierarchy at all levels.
He expressed his happiness at the huge turnout of the stakeholders and declared the meeting as a big success. He revealed that as a democrat, he spoke with all leaders of the party before the meeting convened and expressed the hope that oyo state people will soon enjoy a new lease of life.
