OYO State African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has promised butchers displaced by the state government of their immediate return to Bodija market once he assumes the reins of power from 29 May 2019.
Lanlehin, who gave this assurance at the weekend, while campaigning at plank market at Bodija market, as part of his campaign tour of Ibadan North Local Government Area, similarly assured sellers in the popular market of comprehensive government support to ensure their businesses thrive.
“Once we get elected, we shall return butchers to this market. A situation where government bundled all of them to Amosun Village in Akinyele Local Government is totally uncalled for.”
Rather, we shall build clean and hygienic abattoirs in all major markets around the state, such that both sellers and buyers don’t undergo stress before they transact business,” he said.
Responding to pleas from the sellers for assistance to ensure their small scale businesses survive, Lanlehin berated the APC government for what he called a dubious Tradermoni Scheme, after almost four years of being in government, promising the traders interest free loans, as well as other incentives to make their businesses grow.
“Every major economy today, is one focused on entrepreneurship and small scale businesses. To that extent, our government shall be one that drives its development through same, as well as through agriculture, for industrial development.”
Revitalising existing farm settlements, through the provision of modern tools and implements, as well as making them fully residential, Lanlehin added, was one of the prime ways of boosting the state’s economy.
“We shall establish cottage industries near these farm settlements to ensure their products are transformed into consumer goods, as well as for them to serve as employers of labour,” he reiterated.
Lanlehin, who had earlier on paid homage to Seriki Hausawa, Alhaji Ahmed Zungeru, at his Sabo Palace, promised the people of the area, a government that “truly cares.”
Urging voters to elect his party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in all elections coming up next week, even for the presidency, Lanlehin, who also spoke at Adeoyo, Yemetu area, reminded voters of the need to consider credibility and antecedents of candidates on the ADC platform, side by side with those of other parties, and see that indeed, the ADC was a shining difference.
The Oyo State ADC governorship candidate who also presented Gaphar Ojetola and Olusegun Olaleye (Radical), House of Assembly candidates for Ibadan North Constituencies 1 and 2 to the excited supporters, congratulated Oyo State voters on the imminent arrival of an ADC led, people centred government.
