An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan yesterday declared expulsion of an aspirant to the State House of Assembly, Hon. Oyeniran Oyeniyi Akande by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as unconstitutional.
Akande won the APC’s primary to contest for the position at the Oluyole State constituency, but the party under the chairmanship of Chief Akin Oke replaced his name with Waheed Abiodun Muideen.
Dissatisfied, Akande approached the court for redress following which the leadership of the party later expelled him from the party.
While delivering judgment in the case yesterday, Justice Ezekiel Oyeyemi Ajayi held that “expulsion of Hon. Oyeniran Oyeniyi Akande by the leadership of APC in Oyo State was illegal, unconstitutionally and of no effect.”
