Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said over 12,000 traders have benefitted from the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) MarketMoni interest-free loans in Oyo State.
He made this known yesterday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital at the Micro, Small and Medium-Scale Enterprise (MSME) Clinic, where he interacted with over 2,500 beneficiaries.
He added that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the expansion of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) MarketMoni interest-free loans to accommodate small traders.
He said, “The hope of Mr President is to broaden opportunities to every Nigerian by providing such loans such as the MarketMoni loans, TraderMoni, and the latest being the FarmerMoni to accommodate even the least trader.”
He said the loan was meant for every Nigerian who is willing to work, earn a living and at the same time be a partner in the ongoing efforts at resuscitating the economy.
The vice president also revealed that the Federal Government has concluded plans to decentralise power generating and distribution in the country.
He said this would improve availability of power supply in the country and attract foreign investors.
The vice president spoke at a town hall meeting with youths, held at the Theophilus Ogunlesi, University Teaching Hospital (UCH) Ibadan.
He said he was in Ibadan to ensure fixing of solar power in Gbagi market, just as he had done in other parts of the country.
