A chairmanship aspirant in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Azeez Adedapo, has formally declared his intention to contest in the 2026 local government elections, pledging to prioritise development, job creation, and improved social services if elected.
Adedapo, who currently serves as a Special Assistant, said his decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the local government, adding that he was motivated by a desire to serve the people with integrity and commitment.
Addressing party members and residents, the aspirant expressed gratitude for the support received so far and appealed for broader backing ahead of the polls. He noted that his experience in public service and political engagement had given him a clear understanding of the challenges facing communities within Oorelope.
He said, “I stand before you with humility, seeking your support to serve and lead Oorelope Local Government. My involvement in political affairs has provided me with firsthand insight into the challenges faced by our people, and I am prepared to address them with practical and lasting solutions.”
Adedapo emphasised that his ambition was driven by a passion for service rather than personal gain, assuring residents of a leadership style anchored on transparency, energy, and inclusive governance.
He also pledged to build on the achievements of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, particularly in areas of infrastructure and social development, while tailoring policies to meet the specific needs of Oorelope communities.
According to him, his agenda would focus on modernising the local government through strategic investments in social infrastructure, education, healthcare, and community development, alongside initiatives aimed at boosting employment opportunities for youths.
The aspirant further assured that his administration, if elected, would work towards restoring the pride and reputation of Oorelope Local Government, fostering unity and driving sustainable growth.
He called on party faithful and residents to rally behind his candidacy, expressing confidence that collective efforts would usher in a new phase of progress for the area.
