As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State embarks on its Ward Congresses, the Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Honourable Akeem Adepoju Raheem, has called on the teeming members of the party to go about the exercise in peaceful and orderly manner.
The chairman tasked PDP members in Oorelope Local Government to go to all the designated venues for their ward congresses and make their voices count in choosing the next set of leaders for the party.
Raheem, who stated these while speaking with newsmen at the weekend, equally commended the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for allowing internal democracy to thrive in the party.
“All is set for the Ward Congresses in Oorelope Local Government and our people are already out to exercise their rights in choosing their leaders at the party level.
“The PDP is a democratic party and our leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, has demonstrated his commitment to democracy by allowing internal democracy to thrive.
“The charge I gave to all members of our party is to ensure orderliness and peace in their conduct today. Our party is known for peace and order and this will be reflected in the ward congresses.”
According to the local government boss, PDP is the party to beat in Oyo State any day because the governor has allowed internal democracy to thrive and allowed party members choose their leaders freely.
Raheem also commended the Local Organising Committee for the Oyo State PDP Congresses, headed by Senator Hosea Agboola, stating that the committee ensured that everything went smoothly.
“I must also use this opportunity to commend the chairman of the local organising committee for the congresses, Senator Agboola and other members of his committee, including the secretary of the committee Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, for the good job they have done in ensuring that everything is in place.
“With the success of our congresses assured, PDP will continue to be the party to beat and the only option for the people of Oyo State,” he added.
