Amofin Beulah Adeoye, president of the Beulah Adeoye Foundation has commiserated with the family of former Governor of Oyo State, Dr Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo, whose his passing was announced by family on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Amofin Adeoye, described the former governor who died nine days to his 90th birthday as a great loss not only to Oyo State but Nigeria as a whole.
Amofin Adeoye described late Dr Olunloyo as a distinguished academic and public administrator of repute whose life was marked by unparalleled dedication to public service, education and community service.
Amfoin Adeoye remarked that late Dr Olunloyo was an outstanding student at the prestigious Government College Ibadan. His academic records at the St Andrews University, Scotland where he completed his PhD in Mathematics within 2 years was a reference point for strong his determination and brilliancy.
‘’Dr Olunloyo stood as a beacon of knowledge and intellectual rigor during his days as lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, University of Ibadan.
‘’In public service, Dr Olunloyo became Commissioner for Economic Development, Western Region at the age of 27. Dr Olunloyo also served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters which enthroned 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III and Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade II.
‘’His brief tenure as governor of Oyo State was characterized by integrity, foresight, and compassion. He led with wisdom, always placing the needs of the people above all else. His initiatives exemplified his deep concern development and social equity.
‘’Dr Olunloyo will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments, but for his humility, kindness, and the sincerity with which he served. His legacy is one of honor, courage, and a life devoted to building a better future.
