Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, on Tuesday, asked the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi to recommend his high chiefs to be promoted to beaded crown-wearing kings by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.
Olubadan, in a statement signed by Adeola Oloko, his personal assistant and media director, was apparently reacting to a statement credited to the Alaafin, commending the crowing of new Obas in Ibadanland, during Monday’s distribution of cars to new Ibadan monarchs by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Oba Adetunji advised Oba Adeyemi to recommend his high chiefs to become crown-wearing obas, if it was so desirable
The Olubadan also advised the state government to perish the thought that the controversial approval of beaded crowns to Ibadan high chiefs and baales was irreversible, saying “our case against the Oyo State Government is very alive”.
