In a significant demonstration of unity and support, top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Oke Ogun axis of Oyo State on Thursday convened a stakeholders meeting to affirm their confidence in the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

This gathering, marked by enthusiasm and dedication, emphasized the achievements of Makinde’s administration, which party members hailed as unprecedented in the history of Oyo.

The meeting took place at the LA Demonstration School l & ll field in Iseyin, drawing together party chairmen and executives from ten local government areas that make up Oke Ogun zone.

With the recent resignation of Senator Hosea Agboola, a prominent figure in the state PDP, the atmosphere was one of determination. Leaders were quick to label this departure as a “blessing” for the party, indicating a belief that it could pave the way for renewed focus and strength within the PDP.

Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, former House of Representatives member Hon Shina Peller, and PDP Board of Trustee member Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi were among the notable figures leading the discussions.

During the meeting, each local government chairman took turns addressing their fellow leaders, emphasizing that the party’s cohesion remains intact despite Agboola’s exit.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Hon Shina Peller articulated the importance of holding such a meeting to assess the mood and unity across the local governments.

Peller, who is also the Ayedero of Yorubaland, underscored a significant shift in political dynamics, stating, “The era where you will tell people what to do has come to an end.”

Also, he emphasized the need for genuine leadership, echoing sentiments of the need for new systems and approaches within the party. Peller also reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to PDP course and Governor Makinde’s leadership, describing him as a visionary leader.

The PDP leaders resolved to expand the party’s membership, recognizing that fresh faces and ideas would strengthen its position in the Oke Ogun zone.

They collectively praised Governor Makinde’s transformative impact on socio-economic conditions and infrastructure development in the area, further solidifying their allegiance to his vision and leadership.

In the same vein, the attendees took pride in highlighting the developmental strides achieved under Governor Makinde’s administration. They acknowledged significant advancements in road construction, agricultural revolutions, and socio-cultural developments that have positively influenced the Oke Ogun zone.

Their collective gratitude was evident, as they celebrated not just the tangible outcomes, but also the broader vision moving forward.

In reading the six-point communiqué at the meeting’s conclusion, Adejumobi Samuel Ademola reiterated the paramount need for unity among party members, adding that PDP aims to create a robust framework that can weather political storms and emerge stronger.
