No fewer than three thousand corps members of the 2017 Batch B Stream One posted to Oyo State for their one year mandatory service have passed out.
The passing out ceremony which held across the 33 councils areas of the state was a low key exercise, insideOYO.com has gathered.
Radio Nigeria’s correspondent visited Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat, Agodi Gate observed that the office of the local inspection officer was besieged by corps members who wanted to collect their discharge certificates.
Speaking on their expectation, some of the corps members said they were ready for the task ahead of them.
Others said they would leverage on the skills acquired during the one year service to become self reliant.
They however appealed to government to work towards the provision of jobs for unemployed graduates in the country.
In an interview, the Assistant Director and Head of Human Resources Management, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Oyo State, Alhaji Usman Bashir, who spoke on behalf of the retired State Coordinator, Mrs. Ifeoma Anidobi attributed the low key exercise to the prevailing security crises in some parts of the country.
The Acting NYSC Coordinator said there was no record of corps member with service year extension and there was none with outstanding performance for awards.
