The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism of Oyo State, Mr Toye Arulogun has said that there can be no development without Media-Government relationship.
Speaking at the on-going 3-Day workshop on the role of the media in mitigating flood risk in Ibadan at the Plaza De Aruna in Oyo, the commissioner stressed that flood issues are part of developmental issues. Hence, there is a need for government and the media to have a synergy.
In his welcome address titled THE IMPERATIVE OF GOVERNMENT-MEDIA PARTNERSHIP IN DEVELOPMENT, he said “There cannot be development without Media-Government relationship. Flooding issues are the developmental issue. There should be should a synergy between the media and government”.
“Every policy of government must have a communication plan. As understanding the nuances of our people is a key factor to always consider”, he added.
The workshop which was organized the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project had in attendance several media houses in the state. The workshop started yesterday, Monday 9th of April, 2018 with the arrival of participants, followed by registration of participants and presentations by facilitators. It’s scheduled to end on Thursday 12th of April, 2018.
