Nigerian Billionaire, Femi Otedola has announced his pledge to sponsor the education of 11-year-old Ibadan-born rap sensation, Bello Maruf popularly known as Megabyte.
He made the announcement via an Instagram post on Tuesday.
He shared: “Invited @megabyteofficial to my office. This young man inspires me and I have decided to pay for his education immediately and all through university”.
InsideOYO.com gathered that megabyte hails from Oluyole local government area of Oyo State. He came to limelight back in March after a video of his freestyle hit major news platforms.
Megabyte who is a SSS 1 Student of Royal Kriston College, Mushin, Lagos told the Punch how he developed interest in music. He said:
“I naturally love music. One day, my brother teased me that I didn’t know how to rap despite liking music. He then challenged me to freestyle on a beat. After I did, I realised that I was good at it because people around applauded me. I was 11-year-old at the time.”
He also spoke about his relationship with other celebrities.
“I have met a few and I performed alongside Small Doctor at the Police security concert that held at the University of Lagos. However, I wish to work with other celebrities” he said.
On his expectations from government, he said.
“I want the government to improve on the quality of education so that we will be happy and encouraged to learn.”
