In commemoration of Nigeria’s 62nd Independence anniversary celebration, the First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde has gifted food items, utilities and cash to children with special needs and orphanage centres across the state.
The event took place on Saturday, at her office in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
While speaking, Mrs. Makinde noted that children despite their challenges are destined to be great in life.
She appreciated the care givers for taking care of the children despite the challenges of food shortage, constraints and other hurdles they face everyday in the quest to take care of children with special needs.
She further called on meaningful citizens to take it as a necessity to give their support to orphans, childrens with special needs and to also ensure they are one of the agents that strengthens the unity in the country.
She also appreciated the Governor of the state for his continued support for children with disabilities in the state.
In her welcome remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alh. Kafilat Olayiwola maintained the a lot of positive developments and achievements have been recorded especially in the quality of lives of Nigerians including the less privileged.
She appreciated God in the lives of special children in Oyo state adding that her ministry would continue to care for the less privileged abandoned and disabled children in the state.
Other dignitaries present at the events includes the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Lawal, Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, Oyo State Head of Service, Alh. Ololade Agboola, Chairman Hospital Management Board, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, Pernament Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Grace Olabisi Oderinde, and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mr. Olusoji Adeyanju and others.
