The Sagbama branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the brutal murder of two National Youth Service Corp members posted to Bayelsa State, by suspected cultists/armed robbers.
A statement, yesterday, in Yenagoa, signed by its chairman, Dise Sheila Ogbise, called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other relevant security agencies to carry out an investigation into incessant attacks and killings in the state.
Armed youths suspected to be cultists and armed robbers on March 20, 2019 attacked three NYSC members, killing two and injuring one, in Swali community, Yenagoa.
Ogbise said the murder of the two Corps members was the latest in a spate of violence, killings and criminal activities in the state.
She said: “Insecurity in Bayelsa is alarming and a concern to peace and development in the state. Reports also confirm one person was killed three days ago by suspected cultists at Arietallin, Ovom, Yenagoa.
“These recent activities are reoccurring as society is gradually losing trust in the Police and other relevant security agencies,” she said.
