Boxers who represented Oyo state at the recently concluded National Sports Festival have commended the Lawmaker representing Ibadan North East II State Constituency, Honourable Sola Owolabi for his financial support.
The boxers made this known during a thank-you visit to the lawmaker in his office on Wednesday, in Ibadan, the state capital.
While speaking on behalf of the boxers, Mr Ridwan Ige said the Lawmaker’s financial support came at the right time adding that it was an addition to what the state government provided.
He said they were able to make the Lawmaker and Oyo state proud by winning gold medals and making Oyo state finished 4th position.
He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for prompt payment of athletes salary adding that it was a moral booster for the team.
Earlier, the lawmaker, Honorable Sola Owolabi said he was happy that his support came at the right time for the team.
He commended the team for making Oyo state proud by finishing fourth on the medals table while thanking them for the visit to his office.
Also speaking, the majority leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin congratulated the team adding that they have justified the state government investment in sports.
Sanjo, who congratulated them on behalf of the Speaker of the house also added that the competition will prepare them for future competition.
