While the NANS president, Comrade Chinonso Obasi hosted about 100 students in Abuja, on Thursday night, he has revealed the readiness of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to help and support the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH’s students out of the current crisis facing the institution.
As reported by Leadership, NANS is now ready to move its headquarters to Ogbomosho in a bid to enhance the demonstration of the university’s students towards ensuring reopening of the school and providing a lasting solution to the lack of funds.
Quoting Obasi, “today we have had a memorandum of understanding between NANS and the students of LAUTECH.
“My leadership is going into serious action, because all we need now is for LAUTECH to be reopened”, he declared.
The students are as well agitating for the taking over of LAUTECH by Federal Government and NANS is willing to support this course as the NANS president promises to minister of education and other relevant stake holders on that proposal.
“The students are also making their demands. They have called on the federal government to take over the
management of the university. At the moment, we share in their views and if I’m convinced that that is what the students want, we will go along with them, “he concluded.
