Engineer Muftau Open Salawu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state has hailed Governor Seyi Makinde for the donation of 100 million naira for the renovation of the Palace of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladuni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.
Open Salawu who was the aspirant of the party for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Orire Federal constituency in the last general election in a statement sent to insideoyo.com on Wednesday added that the monarch deserves more than that.
The Ogbomoso-born philanthropist however urged to donate pretty penny to the family of Jimoh Isiaq and others who were killed during the protest as against the 1 million earlier announced.
He also listed some of the things he has done in his capacity to help the Youth and some upcoming plans he has.
He said: Soun of Ogbomosho palace was the best in the south west when it was built in 1978. We really appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for the award of 100 million Naira for the renovation of the palace and replacement of some damaged properties but the money is nothing to be compared with the trauma, embarrassment and cantankerous act brought to nonagenarian and the peace loving people of Ogbomoso in general.
“As of the time Soun built the palace it was talk of the South west and you will agree that Oba Jimoh Oladuni Oyewumi Ajagungbade lll is one of the richest monarch in the Country today and perhaps the most entrepreneur monarch in the Country.
“He has developed is kingdom more than any monarch has done in the South west so those that are trying to make issue out of the 100 million should be well inform that Soun deserves more than that and we also appreciate the Governor and Only if he can give the family of Isiaka jimoh pretty penny.
“The youth are to be gainfully engaged and the Government are trying but We all have a role to play, currently am planting 10,000 mango trees around 5 Local Government Area in Ogbomoso. I’m Organising 5 days Skills accusation program in Conjunction with Federation of Oyo state Students Union (FOSSU) and The 2nd Edition of Ogbomosho Open Tennis Competition follows with prices to be won.”
