The Chairman of Radio and Television Theatre Art Workers Union (RATTAWU) BCOS chapter, Comrade Kolapo Carew, has commended the approval of ₦80,000 minimum wage for workers in Oyo State.
In a statement released over the weekend, Comrade Carew expressed no surprise at the approval, citing the present administration’s reputation for prioritizing workers’ welfare. He highlighted the consistent payment of 13th-month salaries, wage awards to workers and pensioners, and timely payments on the 25th of each month as notable achievements.
Comrade Carew thanked Governor Makinde for his leadership in ensuring workers’ welfare, salary payments, and emoluments. He expressed optimism that the consequential adjustment would reflect the wishes of all workers and senior citizens.
The RATTAWU BCOS chairman confirmed the union’s continued support for the administration through promoting laudable projects. He also acknowledged the union’s positive working relationship with BCOS Chairman Mrs. Dotun Olaitan over the past year.
The BCOS RATTAWU urged Governor Seyi Makinde to address the issue of contract and freelance workers in the corporation and consider absorbing them into the mainstream.
