It was a double celebration for a Mental Health Expert, Counsellor, Ministry Leader, and Lead Consultant at Sure Hope Counseling Clinic, Mrs. Tosin Togun, as she marked her 40th birthday with the official launch of her new book ‘Steps to Setting Up a Prolific Counseling Office’.
The event, which held virtually via Zoom, was attended by friends, colleagues, family members, and ministry partners across the globe.
In her welcome speech, Mrs. Togun reflected on her journey of faith and resilience, recounting how God announced her to the world at the age of nine when she began prophesying in church.
“It took away my childhood. I didn’t even understand what was happening to me,” she said.
She spoke about her early struggles, growing up with a single mother, and the doubts many expressed about her education.
“Many told my mother I would never go to school. But to God be the glory, I passed my WAEC well and gained admission into LAUTECH,” she recounted.
According to her, her university journey became a turning point.
“I thought I was escaping from God, but in LAUTECH, I met a girl who constantly reminded me that I was a child of God. In 2005, I surrendered my life to Christ, and by 2010 the ministry was officially registered. Since then, I have never looked back,” she said.

Reflecting on how the book came about, Mrs. Togun revealed it was divinely inspired.
“I was asking God about my birthday plans. I thought of a concert but later gave up. Then last week, while preparing slides for a platform, God told me to make it a book and launch it on my birthday. I doubted, but I obeyed, and here we are today,” she explained.
Mrs. Togun highlighted the uniqueness of the book.
“Word of mouth is not enough. We need to professionalize counseling in Nigeria and create awareness. The principles in this book are not just theories, they are tried, tested, and proven in my own counseling clinic. God told me to teach others, and that’s my major motivation,” she affirmed.
Reviewer of the book, Mrs. Temitope Ayenigba, praised its depth and practicality.
“The knowledge and wealth of wisdom released into this book is mind-blowing. This is not just a book, it is a proper guide for counselors. The seven chapters take readers from setting smart goals to registration, branding, business structure, client acquisition, building a support system, pricing, and even when and how to pay yourself,” she noted.
Mrs. Ayenigba emphasized that the book filled a much-needed gap in Nigeria’s counseling practice.
“Until we make counseling professional and establish proper offices, people will not trust the process. This book shows how to build a counseling clinic where people feel safe, guided, and understood,” she added.
Also speaking at the launch, Bukola Fatola described Tosin Togun as a woman of impact.
“The reason we are here today is because of Mrs. Tosin Togun. She is not only a mental health expert but also a leader of Hope for Generations Ministry and founder of Hope Orphanage Home. She is passionate about empowering individuals and mentoring the next generation,” she said.
Pastor Ijaopo, who gave the exhortation and prayers, described the celebrant’s life as a testimony of grace, tenacity, and divine consistency.

Barrister Toyin Togun, husband of the author, also gave a goodwill message in honour of his wife. He described her as a woman of rare strength, vision, and total faith.
“Tosin is not just my wife, she is my partner in purpose and destiny. Watching her grow from strength to strength, touching lives through counseling, ministry, and philanthropy, has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. This book is another evidence of her obedience to God’s call. My prayer is that God will continue to enlarge her coast and make her a global voice in counseling and mental health,” he said.
The event also featured a special birthday presentation, including a performance by Shorty Ewi Eyinju Olodumare and others, held in honour of the author’s life and achievements. It also culminated in the formal unveiling of the book by friends, guests, and well-wishers.
Dignitaries present at the event included Revd. Remi Akinriola, immediate past Chairman of the Counselling Association of Nigeria, and Engr. Ade Rotimi, Chairman, Board of Trustees, among other distinguished guests.
