The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Tuesday urged Muslims across the country and Oyo State in particular, to pray for the unity and prosperity of citizens and a successful general elections in 2019.
Engineer Makinde gave the charge in a statement signed by the Director of Communication and Strategy of his campaign organization, Prince Dotun Oyelade to commemorate this year’s birthday celebration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The PDP governorship candidate declared that this became necessary in view of the fact that Nigeria as a country “has never been so divided along ethnic and religious lines and has never been so poor, with a recent global report stating that Nigeria has the highest number of people living in abject poverty in the world.”
‘It is incumbent on all of us to follow the teaching of the Prophet who admonished that one has not become a true Muslim until you want for yourself what you want for others,’ he said.
Engineer Makinde then tasked religious leaders across board and adherents of other religions to ensure we abide with the teachings that preach peace, and pray for a prosperous nation and God-fearing leaders.
