Thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members hit the streets of Owode, Ago-Okere, Jakuta, Okegboho and Bonni in Wards 3 and 10 of Igboho in Oorelope Local Government, as the party concluded campaign activities ahead of Saturday’s Local Government Election.

The party’s chairmanship candidate, Mr Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran, hails from Ward 3, where residents vowed to elect him and the councillorship candidate of the PDP, Adewale Waheed.

From street to street, PDP loyalists spread words about the good works of the Governor ‘Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state, canvassing residents to vote for Ogundiran and his running mate, Babatunde Wasiu as well as the party’s councillorship candidates across the 10 Wards.

Party stalwarts, including former members of the House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Balogun and Hon. Musiliu Adesola, Makinde’s Special Assistant on Print Media, Moses Alao and the Director-General of the campaign, Hon. Ismail Aderemi, rallied party members and residents to support the PDP in the poll.

Speaking at the Oja Bonni, Hon. Balogun also from Ward 3, declared that though the APC and PDP candidates are from Bonni in Ward 3, the people know the antecedents of Hon Ogundiran and would not dare touch the APC candidate with a long pole.

He noted that victory is assured for all candidates of the PDP.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Makinde’s Special Assistant on Print Media, Alao, maintained that the governor had spoken clearly that the PDP has done so well for all zones of the state that the people will not hesitate to vote for all PDP candidates.

He added that Makinde, as a Democrat but a no-nonsense leader, will allow a free and fair election but will not condone trouble-makers parading as opposition politicians.

Other leaders, including Hon. Adesola, Alhaji Rasaq Ajibade and the Oorelope Local Government chairman, Akeem Raheem, all assured PDP loyalists that victory is certain on Saturday.

Speaking with newsmen in a statement made available to newsmen, Ogundiran noted that the turnout of party faithful during all the campaign rallies and the flag presentation was heartwarming and a great assurance on the sweet victory that the party will record in Oorelope Local Government.

He lauded the governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for being a great leader and for providing a level playing field for all parties as well as the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal.

He remarked that the PDP will record a landslide victory in the LG poll across all Wards of Oorelope, because the people are resolute to support the continuity of good governance that Governor Makinde is offering the state.

Notable PDP leaders including Alhaji Salami Alagbaje, Alhaji Safariyu Oyelowo, Mr Fatai Asipa, the party’s House of Assembly candidate in the 2023 Governorship and House of Assembly Election, Hon. Haruna Adewale Olowookere, the chairman of the Supervisory Councillors’ Forum, Hon. Michael Oni and Mr Sunday Bayowa, among others.
