Oyo State governor-elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Tuesday said he may retain some of the appointments made by Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the APC government as long as it is in the interest of the people of the state.
Makinde stated this during a live interview programme on Lagelu 96.7 FM in Ibadan. He said his government is only after how to improve the welfare of the people and the progress of the state.
According to him, “Any programme that they have that is good, we will continue to do it. I will discuss with Governor Ajimobi. We may retain the people in charge of the programmes appointed by the APC as long as it is in the interest of the people.”
“We can work with anybody,” he added.
He disclosed that his transition committee would be unveiled on Friday and that the committee would be subdivided into four, namely; Economy, Education, Health and Security. He said members of the committees would be made up of experts in the four fields.
On how to solve the crisis rocking Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Makinde said workers in the institution, students and leaders in Ogbomoso would be part of the decision making process. He promised to review downward the tuition fees paid by students of the institution.
“To revive LAUTECH, workers, students and leaders in Ogbomoso will come into the decision making process. We will do something to boost the academic situation in the short term,” he said.
Makinde said his government will partner with anybody irrespective of political affiliation as long as it is for the progress of the State.
