The Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has appealed to residents to remain calm and be vigilant as fire ravaged 5 locations in Ibadan on Monday.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, the governor expressed delight at the activities of the Fire Service in curtailing the incidents.
He said his government had make provision for new fire service equipment in the 2020 budget.
His words “I was duly informed by the Director of Fire Service, about the 5 fire outbreaks at various locations in Ibadan, yesterday. As I commiserate with those who lost properties in these fires, I am thankful that no casualty was recorded.
“I commend the Oyo State Fire Service for containing all fire incidents, and for ensuring they did not spread to cause more damage. We have budgeted to procure new firefighting vehicles and other equipment for the fire service in 2020 so it can provide a more efficient service.”
