Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has on Wednesday, presented a cheque of five million naira to the family of the late General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Rasheed Balogun Shodiya, in appreciation of his contribution and illustrious service to the club.
Presenting the cheque to the children at a very brief event held at the Jericho G R.A office of the club, on behalf of the Governor, the Executive Chairman of 3SC, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan, said the development, was in fulfilment of the governors’ promise to compensate the children of the late 3SC boss.
He said: “We note that under him (Balogun), Shooting Stars Sports Club recorded many successes, the recent one being the promotion of the club, from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after spending four (4) years in the lower cadre.
“In view of this and in fulfilment of his promise to compensate his family, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Abiodun Makinde, has graciously approved the sum of five million naira (#5,000000.00), to be given to his children.
“On behalf of Engineer Seyi Makinde, the promise keeper, the Executive Governor of Oyo State and the good people of the state, we hereby present the cheque to you, his children, and wish you success in your future endeavour”, said Akoro, as the 3SC Chairman is fondly called.
Responding on behalf of the children, late Balogun’s eldest son, Razaq, who collected the cheque alongside his sibblings, Rilwan and Rukayat, expressed the appreciation of the Balogun family to Governor Makinde for his kind gesture, even as he thanked the entire management and staff of 3SC.
Present at the presentation of the cheque were members of the 3SC management team, including the Acting General Manager cum Team Manager, Dimeji Lawal, Director of Administration and Supply, Rahman Olapade and the Director, Finance and Account, Mr Kehinde Ogundiran.
