Oyo state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has handed over the Pacesetter Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Ijaiye to a private company, Carboncor Road Technology Ltd as concessionaires in a public-private partnership arrangement.
Last year, Governor Makinde visited the moribund quarry and asphalt plant along Moniya -Iseyin road in Ijaiye. He had regretted that the plant which could be an asset to the state was abandoned to rot away due to political consideration while the state is patronizing third parties for asphalt to construct its road.
On Wednesday, he said the public private arrangement will generate funds for the state government, create jobs and also, produce the asphalt for road projects in the state.

“This evening, I was pleased to symbolically handover the Pacesetter Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Ijaiye to a private company, Carboncor Road Technology Ltd as concessionaires in a public-private partnership arrangement with the Oyo State Government.
“This previously moribund quarry and asphalt plant which we visited on July 3, 2019, will now generate funds for the government and the concessionaire, create jobs for our people and also, produce the asphalt we need for road projects in the state,” the governor said while flagging off the concessioning exercise.
Tomorrow, May 29, 2020, Governor Seyi Makinde will mark his first year administration in office.
