Oyo state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde said he discussed issues pertaining to Oyo football and tips on how to take the state-owned football clubs in the right direction.
This happened when former Super Eagles star, Kanu Nwankwo visited the governor last Thursday at the Governor’s office in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
“It was a pleasure to meet with Kanu Nwankwo, who paid us a courtesy visit last Thursday.
“We talked all things football, and it was a good opportunity to get tips about the direction we want to take our state-owned football clubs.”

Recall that Governor Makinde had earlier met with the management of the Shooting Stars football club. At the meeting attended by 3SC stakeholders including the team’s general manager, Rasheed Balogun, team manager, Dimeji Lawal and supporters’ club chairman, Oluwafemi Olaniyi, Makinde said the state government under his leadership is ready to motivate and properly fund the club so that it could achieve the objective of gaining promotion to the premier league.
On his part, the ex-International, Kanu Nwankwo, said Nigerian football is still growing and would improve. He said he was in Ibadan to solicit support for 200 patients awaiting surgical operations through the Kanu Heart Foundation.
