The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Sunday asked Governor Ajimobi to as a matter of urgency, confirm or deny that he is allegedly planning to transfer the ownership of the Ring Road hospital, Adeoyo to certain individuals who want to turn it into profitable business.
Engineer Makinde in a release from his campaign organisation signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade pointed out in the statement that ” he’s worried that it appears that the same set of consortium who bidded to buy LAUTECH but were stopped by uproar from people of good will are now on the verge of possessing, through their Patriarch in Lagos, the largest State hospital in the old western region and charge exorbitant fees which the common man cannot afford”.
Emphasizing that he does not care whoever the planned buyer could be, the PDP governorship candidate said, “what is upper most on his mind is that any property of the state must be held in trust for the greater good of the masses.”
Engineer Makinde stressed that if elected the next governor of Oyo state, ” his own plan for the State is to turn the place around and use the neglected hospital as one of the planks to propel his health manifesto and provide accessible health care system for the masses”
While advising the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in Oyo state ” to have a rethink on such an insensitive and outrageous plan”, he vowed that his administration will halt any plan to use the hospital for anything else other than the original plans of past leaders to provide cheap and effective treatment for the masses.
Engineer Makinde who called on the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state to search his conscience and choose between blind loyalty to his mentors and what will benefit the common man on the street, berated the state Health Insurance Scheme to which civil servants are forced to contribute with nothing in return.
