The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has extended heartfelt appreciation to the electorates for their turnout during the local government election, on Saturday, in the state.
In a statement signed by the party’s spokesperson, Micheal Ogunsina, the party expressed gratitude for the unwavering support shown by the people of Oyo state towards the party and its candidates.
Ogunsina lauded the residents for their steadfast loyalty to the party, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to the ideals of the PDP and the governance of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The party took a swipe at the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting their setbacks in Oyo State politics.
The PDP reminded the opposition of their previous electoral disappointments and criticized their failure to rectify internal issues, leading to the nomination of unsuitable candidates for the current poll.
In response to the former governorship candidate of the APC’s recent remarks casting doubt on the integrity of the electoral body, the PDP attributed the party’s skepticism to a “losing syndrome” and referenced their previous defeats in the gubernatorial and local government elections.
The PDP commended the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission for their commendable conduct throughout the polls, expressing confidence in the fairness and transparency of the electoral process and remaining optimistic about achieving victory.
Assuring the people of Oyo State of the competence and dedication of its candidates, the party emphasized that all nominees have undergone extensive mentorship under Governor Makinde, promising quality service delivery to the state.
The party said it is optimistic of victory across the 351 wards and 33 LGAs of the state.
