The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has felicitated with Governor Seyi Makinde over his Award of Excellence as the Governor of the year 2023.
CCII described the award as well deserved, enviable and unique honour on Makinde, saying the award by Leadership Newspaper, one of the leading newspapers in Nigeria is a confirmation and reflection of CCII assessment of Governor Makinde’s style of administration.
A statement by CCII President-General, Barr. Chief Niyi Ajewole stated that going by the parameters used in making the Award, one is convinced that those who made the Award were objective, fair and scientific in their approach to have considered Governor Makinde for the award.
CCII noted that Oyo State under the watch of Governor Seyi Makinde measured up to standard, taking all the indices of good governance into consideration, describing the Governor as a pride of Ibadanland.
According to CCII, the assessment parameters used before chosen Makinde for the award include massive infrastructure development project especially connection of all geopolitical zones of the state with good road network, saying positive effects of these road network is enhancement of economic activities and facilitation movement of agricultural products and produce.
“So also are the commissioning of dual carriage ways in the cities and towns across the state, good Security Architecture in the state’s geopolitical zones, through establishment, funding and equipping of the Amotekun security outfit.
“Installation of functional security street lights across the state, this is in addition to the massive support given to the Nigerian Police.
“Regular payment of salaries, pension and gratuities. Payment of 13th month salary inclusive, increment of car and housing loans for workers, in the area of Education, Oyo State is performing.
“LAUTECH is now solely owned by Oyo State, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education is now a full fledged University of Education.
“The old School of Hygiene Eleyele has now been upgraded to College of Health Science And Technology. There’s attestation from the Zonal Director of NECO that Oyo State is amongst the best in Senior Certificate Examination Ranking.
“Economic Development: Efforts of government are also noted in economic promotion and revenue generation as evidenced in increase in the state IGR.
“Agriculture: Release of low interest loan to farmers and youth training in agriculture, remarkable support for completion of the new Olubadan Palace Project.
“Members of the CCII Executive are not surprised at the Award because, the performance is apparent, an intimidating achievement. An achievement that will put other Governors on their toes.
“Bi omo eni ba dara ka wi”. Your Excellency, you are a pride to Ibadanland, when there is an intellectual at the helm, the outcome and output will definitely be good results.
