The Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, on Monday, paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Hon. Olayiwola Gabriel Adetoyese also known as Layi Baale, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Ibarapa East local government area of the state, who died recently.
The Deputy Governor who was received by the family of the deceased and PDP leaders and stakeholders in Ibarapa zone, paid the condolences visit on behalf of the governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the state government.
In the entourage of the deputy governor, were prominent elders of Oyo state PDP which included Engineer Hameed Gbadamosi; Former Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Dr. Saka Balogun, Elder Wole Oyelese, Chief Nureni; Iba Oluyole, Chief Adetoro, Chief Ogunlade and others.
On ground to receive the visitors were the first son of the deceased, Mr. Bobola Olayiwola and other members of the family.
Some elders from the zonal PDP/ community leaders including Chief Eyinade Elejire from Igboora, High Chief Adewale Atanda, Hons. Yemi Taiwo, Dimeji Ladapo, Gbenga Obalowo (L.G. Chairman), Aremo Adeleke, Prince Labiyi, among others were also in attendance.
The son of the deceased, while welcoming the visitors, stated that Late Layi Baale died at a time lease expected. He added that he spoke with him before going to bed on the evening of January 30th, but his father did not wake up the following morning.
While reacting to the visit, a chieftain of the party and former Oyo state commissioner for information, Moses Ojoawo commended the Executive Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his support to the family of the deceased. He also thanked the deputy governor and his entourage for the visit.
Ojoawo who spoke with our correspondent shortly after the visit said Layi Baale will be greatly missed by the party and Ibarapa East local government area and Oyo state.
“As leaders and stakeholders of the party in Ibarapa East local government area, we worked with him to build and nurture the party to an enviable position. We thank God Hon. Layi Baale lived a fulfilled life. He was a staunch supporter of good governance and a grassroot mobilizer. He will be greatly missed!”
Hon. Olayiwola Gabriel Adetoyese aka Layi Baale was Oyo South PDP Senatorial Chairman, a former SA Political Matters to late Governor Adebayo Alao Akala and the immediate past member of Oyo State Rural Water and Sanitation Agency, Ruwasa.
He died on Wednesday, 31st January, 2024.
