Ibadan, Oyo State – Tuesday, April 14, 2026 – Hon. Waheed Akintayo, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT, has distanced himself from rumours of a plot to destabilize the relationship between the Oyo State House of Assembly and the executive arm, describing such narratives as the work of “agents of disunity.”
In a press statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, the lawmaker representing Oluyole State Constituency reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, popularly known as GSM, stating that he was not aware of, nor had he been invited to, any meeting or scheme aimed at undermining the governor’s administration.
“It has come to my attention that mischievous narratives are being peddled, suggesting the existence of a covert plan designed to destabilize the peace and stability currently enjoyed across Oyo State,” Akintayo said. “Let me state unequivocally that I am not a party to any such arrangement.”
Akintayo, also known as _Ilumoka Presenter_, said his stance has always been “consistent and clear” in support of peace, unity, and the collective progress of the state. He categorically disassociated himself from any individual or group seeking to “pitch the legislature against the Governor or the Government of Oyo State.”
“My loyalty to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, is total, unshaken, and unwavering,” he added. He praised the governor’s “visionary leadership, people-centered policies, and commitment to sustainable development,” noting that Oyo State has become “a model of good governance in Nigeria” under Makinde’s watch.
The lawmaker assured constituents in Oluyole that he would not be distracted by “political intrigues or unfounded rumours,” stressing that his focus remains on “legislative excellence, effective representation, and continuous advocacy for policies that uplift our communities, empower our youth, and strengthen our institutions.”
He urged the people of Oyo State to disregard speculation linking him to any anti-government plot. “I vote for peace, I stand for stability, and I remain firmly committed to the continued success of the Makinde-led administration and the prosperity of Oyo State,” Akintayo said.
The statement concluded: “Let it be known: I am for Oyo State, and Oyo State is for progress.”
