The annex of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital at the State Hospital, Owode, Oyo, is in ruins, few years after the construction work started.
Residents who spoke with insideoyo.com revealed that the project was exchanged for the teaching hospital in Ogbomoso. One of them said: “the administration of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala originally sited the teaching hospital complex for Oyo town and the annex for Ogbomoso, where the institution is but he was allegedly misled. That formed the reasons while many indigenes of the town didn’t support his re-election bid. However, while that of Ogbomoso was completed, our own has been like this for long, even before Governor Abiola Ajimobi took over.”
When insideoyo.com visited the site, the roofing sheets are almost gone while weeds have taken over major parts of the projects. People from neighbouring communities now defecate within the premises, as traces of faeces are obvious.
An hospital source revealed that the giant complex would have to be rebuilt all over, adding that weeds are now competing in height with the gigantic building.
The edifice, according to sources, has now become a huge threat to both patients and staff of the hospital.
