A former two-term member of the House of Representatives who represented Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Saheed Fijabi has distanced himself from the attack and destruction launched on some projects facilitated by his Successor, Hon Stanley Olajide popularly called ODIDIOMO saying he has no idea of what happened.
Fielding questions on this week’s edition of BOTTOM LINE, a political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan, Fijabi said he was hearing of this development from the Anchor of the programme – Aanuoluwapo Omorinde for the first time.
His words: “I know many people will not believe me but I am just hearing this for the first time from you. But if anything like that happened, he should look inward and check his party.
“I have chosen not to comment on happenings in my Constituency deliberately but the people now know the difference. When I was there, I gave my best. I surpassed the achievements of all my predecessors and the person there now can’t match talk less of beat the record”.
He accused his predecessor of lowering the standard by empowering the people with goats.
He said: “How can you be doing that in this age? This is Ibadan! We are talking of the largest city in the Sub-Sahara Africa. Giving people goats as empowerment in this age? Common, it is demeaning but that is what some people want.
“Funny enough during the electioneering, my brother said he will not do empowerment and all that but what is happening now?”.
When reminded that he lost to gallantly to Hon. Stanley Olajide in the 2019 elections, Fijabi said his offence was the fact that he has served twice and nothing more.
“If it was about performance, forget it, we did our best but some persons felt is he the only one? Let another person go there and that was it”.
He also criticized the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde saying some of the projects it is executing are ill-timed.
He asked the State government not to bask in the euphoria of the NUC latest ranking which puts LAUTECH ahead of every other State Universities.
He said: “It is all about priority but I think this government is not getting it’s priority right.
“Don’t tell me LAUTECH is the best because it has always been like that. It has always been the first with or without the Seyi Makinde has always been the first so, say something else.
“When we criticize this government, it is because we want the Governor and his government to succeed”.
