The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has promised to ensure the completion of projects abandoned by the incumbent administration if elected in 2019.
The Punch reports that Lanlehin in a political campaign at Eruwa in Ibarapa zone of the state, also appealed to the people to shun violence and conduct themselves peacefully during the elections.
He said security reports revealed that some desperate politicians were planning to steal votes against the wish of the masses.
Lanlehin said, “Come out and protect your votes. We don’t encourage you to fight but you should fight for your votes.
“You have to work very hard and watch out for thieves.”
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission in Oyo for its vigilance and condemned attempts by politicians to procure Permanent Voter Cards from the INEC.
He stated, “We call on the INEC to continue its strong vigilance and to remain committed to free, fair and credible polls, and not to give in to whatever pressure from politicians.
“We thank the Oyo Resident Electoral Commission for raising the alarm; we just want to appeal to the commission to remain vigilant and tell those trying to purchase PVCs to desist from such unscrupulous acts and know that power is from God alone.”
