Former Governor Rashidi Ladoja has joined the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, sources disclosed to InsideOyo.com Sunday night.
This defection is coming after the ZLP settled for former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli as ZLP governorship candidate.
A source in Abuja told insideOyo.com that Sharafahdeen Alli’s form was submitted at the INEC national office and substituted for a former Commissioner of Finance in the Ladoja administration, Waheed Akanbi, had since October emerged the candidate of the ZLP.
Recall that the former Chairman of Oodua investment was one of the 12 aggrieved aspirants of the African Democratic Congress.
The defection, multiple sources told InsideOyo.com put the one of the major opposition parties in the state in disarray.
In a report last week, Ladoja had issued a 48 hours ultimatum to the Oyo state chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, over its choice of Olufemi Lanlehin’s running mate.
He requested the party to change the name of the gubernatorial running mate of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Mr Saheed Alaran. Ladoja, who said he had no personal grudges with the said Alaran, a former council caretaker chairman from Iseyin, the upper area of Oke Ogun becoming deputy governor but the party would suffer from the votes of the region if the ‘mistake by a group within ADC is allowed to go unchallenged’.
The former governor also alleged a wing within the party, Unity Forum of altering the template designed to win the 2019 general elections in the state.
Recall that Unity Forum, a breakaway faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside other groups merged together to form the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Oyo state.
