The Chairman of Kajola Local Government and former lawmaker, Hon Akeem Mustapha, has extended warm greetings to Muslims and Christians across the council area and beyond as they commence the Ramadan and Lent fastings.
In a goodwill message released on Wednesday, the council boss described the fasting periods as sacred period of spiritual renewal, self-discipline, sacrifice, and devotion to the service of God and humanity.
Hon. Mustapha urged Muslims and Christians to seize the opportunity of the fasting period to pray fervently for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Kajola Local government, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
According to him, “Fasting is not only a time for abstaining from food and drink but also a season that calls for deep reflection, charity, love, and forgiveness. I enjoin all Muslim and Christian faithful to use this holy month to strengthen their faith and promote peaceful coexistence in our communities.”
He further called on residents, irrespective of religious affiliations, to support one another, especially the less privileged, stressing that the essence of Ramadan lies in compassion and generosity.
The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, inclusive governance, and the welfare of all residents, noting that prayers and community support remain vital to the success of government programmes.
Hon. Mustapha wished all Muslims and Christians peaceful and rewarding fasting periods, praying that God grants them the strength to complete the fast and accept their acts of worship.
