Plans by former governor Rashidi Ladoja and others to allegedly dominate the leadership of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may divide the party again.
Many had been looking up to tomorrow’s exercise to be a success just like the recently-held ward and local government congresses.
The development is coming few hours to the state congress of the party, which is billed to hold in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, tomorrow.
Sources, who confided in insideoyo.com, said that major stakeholders within party were planning to choose the party leadership through a consensus arrangement until Ladoja, together with us, started another trick.
It was learnt that a former senator, Ayoade Adeseun and a former minister of federal capital territory, Jumoke Akinjide and others are with Ladoja in the plot.
Sources added that the trio have concluded plans to “hijack major positions like chairmanship, secretary and others’ so as to allow their lackeys have easy ride, as candidates, in 2019 elections.”
Insideoyo.com is not sure whether the stakeholders would still go ahead with the planned consensus arrangement to choose the party chairman.
Those who are opposed to Ladoja’s plan, insideoyo.com further gathered, have also concluded to hold a parallel congress should the former governor “tries to play smart.”
The venue of the congress is yet to be announced as at the time of filing this report.
